Back to For passengers
Published Aug 26, 2022

With passenger numbers increasing upon the arrival of the busy summer season we've seen a sharp rise in the amount of baggage queries coming into our customer support team.

While we have been trying to provide advice where we can, it's important to note that as an airport we don't handle baggage. That's a process handled by airlines and their handling agents.

They are responsible for checking your bags in, loading them onto your flight, and then returning them to you once you arrive at your destination. This process means information on your baggage is held on the systems of the handling agents. We simply provide the infrastructure and facilities for them to use.

We know this may be frustrating, but all we can do is provide contact details for the handling agents operating at EDI. They are able to sort you out from there. If you are looking to find out about whether you are eligible for compensation, or have any other related queries, you need to contact your airline (airline contacts here).

Sadly, when relaying these messages our hard-working staff have often been faced with abusive language and unacceptable behaviour. We are reminding people to be kind and show some consideration for the person on the other end of the phone. They are only doing their job.

Hand luggage rules explained: Items you can and can't take through security

Do you want to reclaim luggage?

Swissport and Menzies are inviting passengers to reclaim their luggage from a secure storage unit on Almond Road. This will be open each day from 0900 to 1700.

All you need to do is ensure you take your luggage tags and ID. Staff will be unable to return bags without this.

Passengers whose baggage was handled by Menzies can find out more information on the Menzies website here.

If you need to contact Swissport you can visit their website here.

Passengers who need to speak to WFS can use the contact details further down the page.

Jet2 customers should contact the airline directly for any missing luggage issues as their front of house team are dealing with this.
