Twilight bag drop is expanding - here's how you can check your bags in the night before

Last updated May 02, 2024

Looking to drop off your bags at the airport the night before you fly? One less thing to deal with when you arrive in the morning, right?

If this sounds like the ultimate convenience then you should know the Twilight bag drop service being operated daily by four airlines at Edinburgh Airport is expanding for summer 2024.

The airlines are operating the service for more hours, on more days, and a trial will be running throughout May and June where parking customers can access our 1hr Parking area for free the night before they fly. Making dropping off those cases even easier.

How does Twilight bag drop work?

Anyone who has a morning flight with Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2.com or British Airways can take advantage providing you can get to the airport to check-in your bags the night before.

Your flight must be before midday for easyJet, Jet2.com and British Airways, and before 08:00 if you're flying with Ryanair.

The airlines operate different bag drop times - so make sure you check this before you arrive with your luggage.

We've got a range of public transport options allowing easy access to the terminal, while throughout May and June we'll also be providing free 1hr Parking access to anyone who has already booked official airport parking.

Twilight check in - April 2024

To use Twilight bag drop you must have completed check in and have a boarding pass.

The lead booker must be present when bags are being dropped off, and while they can drop off up to six bags on behalf of others they are travelling with, they'll need to bring everyone's passports and boarding passes with them.

For further information on the Twilight bag drop service you should contact your airline directly.

If you're not checking in bags the night before it's important to ensure you arrive at the airport for your airline's check-in desk opening.

There's no point in getting here too early as you won't be able to drop your bags off - and this can lead to some extra queues - and don't arrive too late and risk cutting it fine.

Check-in desk opening times

Different airlines open their check-in desks at different times, so it's always best to check this before the day of your flight.

While some open their desks up to four hours before flight times, others do so two hours ahead of departure.

Desks and times can vary, and are subject to change by the airline.
