A major £1.6 million project to redevelop the airport's Pickup & Dropoff will transform the ground floor of our multi-storey car park.

The area will be completely redesigned in the coming months to provide a more modern and user-friendly experience for those who use it. Once the works are complete by summer 2023 drivers picking up or dropping off passengers can use a one-way system spread across four different lanes. Digital signage will display which lanes have available spaces.

Designated walkways and crossings will be introduced for passengers going to or from the terminal, and new lighting will make the area look brighter and more appealing.

The short video below gives an impression of how the facility will look once the redevelopment has been completed.

The project, which is the most significant undertaken by the airport since the pandemic, is part of a wider £6million investment in surface transport improvements designed to create the best possible passenger experience.

Gail Taylor, Director of Retail and Property at Edinburgh Airport, said:

“These improvement works are the most significant we've undertaken since the pandemic, marking an important step in our recovery as we invest in a host of areas to create the best passenger experience.

“The transformation of this zone will lead to a brighter, safer and more user-friendly area which will benefit passengers. Works have been carefully planned to take place out with peak periods and although it will mean there are some temporary changes, we hope passengers agree with the improvements we’re making and we thank them for their patience.”
