Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands, but, despite its small size, it’s often described as being like a miniature continent on its own. Its landscape is a mixture of white-sand beaches stretching along its southern coast to the northern rural and mountainous interior. With its spring-time conditions and average temperature of 24°C as well as offering countless opportunities for hiking, horse trekking and watersports, Gran Canaria is an ideal holiday destination year-round.
No trip to Gran Canaria is complete without a visit to its capital, La Palmas, which is set in outstanding scenery composed of two bays and their attractive beaches- Playa de las Canteras and Playa de las Alcaravaneras. Las Palmas is also a very historic town, with the oldest quarter being part of UNESCO since 1990. Also a place of impressive infrastructure, Las Palmas’ harbour, Puerto de La Luz, is one of the most important in Europe.
