Can I book car parking in advance?

Can I pre-book parking for the same day?

You can pre-book parking up until 3 hours before you are due to arrive at the car park.

Can I book by phone?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately not. We can help talk you through the booking process, but all bookings must be made by the customer online.

Question 4

What payment methods are accepted for pre booking?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major debit and credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, VisaDebit, Maestro, Electron, and AMEX for pre-booking.

Question 5

Do I need to purchase parking for a motorbike?

Accepted Answer

Motorbikes require purchase of parking in all our public car parks, either by pre-booking online or subject to the Drive up & park rates.

Question 6

My payment card has expired - how do I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

On the advice of our bank, we only refund the card that was originally used to pay – this is to make sure that the refund goes to the right place and avoids any problems. If your account is closed or you've had a replacement card and the refund still isn't appearing in your account after 15 days, please contact your card issuer. Unfortunately, we can't reclaim the money and issue the refund to a new card for you.

Where can I drop off and pick passengers up?

You can find more information on our drop off and pick-up areas check here. Payment is made on exit and we accept contactless payment as well as Apple and Android pay. Edinburgh Airport also offer a free drop off in the Long Stay car park for passengers who wish to drop off or pick up passengers without incurring any cost.

What happens after I have made my booking?

Accepted Answer

You will receive an on-screen confirmation with your booking reference and we will also email you a copy of your booking along with some helpful tips and information for getting to the airport and making the most of your time at Edinburgh Airport. We will also send you text messaging alerts if you added your mobile number at the booking stage. A text message will be sent as soon as your booking has been made and we will also send you a text reminder 24 hours prior to arrival at the car park.

I have booked car parking but haven't received my confirmation?

Accepted Answer

You can request a copy of your booking confirmation by logging into your account. If you don't have your booking reference to hand please call our friendly car parking support team. If you didn't book directly with Edinburgh Airport and booked with a third party you will need to contact the company you booked with.

Can I arrive at the car park before my booked date/time?

You can arrive at the car park early however please be advised that you may be subject to an overcharge fee, which is payable on exit.

Can I exit the car park before my booked date/time?

You can exit the car park early however please be advised that no refunds can be made for unused parking time.

Question 12

What if I arrive earlier than my pre-booked time?

Accepted Answer

You can arrive at your chosen car park up to two hours before your confirmed booking time without occurring any additional cost. The grace period for departing the car park at the end of your stay is six hours.

How do I pay if I have overstayed my booking?

Overstay rates vary depending on which car park you are parked in. Overstay charges are payable per day.

Question 14

What do I do upon arrival?

Accepted Answer

Drive up to the entry barrier of the car park you have booked and the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system will read your vehicle registration number and automatically issue you with a ticket. The ticket will show your vehicle registration number and this will correspond to the booking details we have for you on our system. Please remove the ticket, and the barrier will raise allowing you to enter. Please retain the ticket and keep it safe as you will need this to exit. Should the system fail to recognise your vehicle or if the barrier does not raise for you automatically when you arrive at the airport, press the intercom for assistance. Please bring your booking reference with you.

What do I do on my return?

Accepted Answer

Drive to the exit barrier and insert your car parking ticket. The barrier should raise automatically however, in some cases, the system may fail to recognise your vehicle on entry. You will know if there has been a mis-read because your car registration will be mis-printed on your ticket. In this situations please drive up to the exit barrier as normal and press the buzzer for assistance. Please ensure you have your booking reference and or car registration number to hand. If you have overstayed you will need to go to the payment machines located across the car park before you approach the exit barrier.

I’m a Blue Badge holder – where can I park?

Disabled parking spaces are located in every car park, however spaces are limited and are subject to availability.

Are there facilities to charge my electric vehicle?

Edinburgh Airport currently only provides electric charging points for Tesla vehicles.

Will my vehicle be safe?

Accepted Answer

Edinburgh Airport takes the security of your vehicle very seriously. All of our car parks offer high levels of security, with advanced CCTV systems, electronically controlled entry and exit barriers, and 24/7 walking patrols. All of our car parks have also been awarded the Park Mark® Award for Safer Parking so you can fell secure knowing that your vehicle will be safe for the duration of your journey. Please note that vehicles are parked at their owners' own risk, subject to the terms and conditions of the car park.

Do I need to hand my keys?

Unless you book Valet Parking, Edinburgh Airport operate a ‘self-park’ policy, which means you park in the space you want, and keep your own keys.

Is there a maximum car size, or any height restrictions?

Accepted Answer

Most of our car parks have no height restrictions with the exception of the Multi-Storey car park that has a maximum height restriction of 2 metres. Any vehicles requiring more than one space must make 2 separate bookings i.e. vehicles towing trailers, caravans, long based wheel, coaches. What if my flight is delayed and I go over my pre-booked parking period?

Depending on how long your flight is delayed by you may have to pay an additional fee on your return. Normal gate prices apply and vary depending on what car park is pre-booked.

Question 22

How do I extend a booking that is already active?

Accepted Answer

You cannot extend a booking after your stay with us has begun.  If you have already parked at the airport and need to extend your booking, your will need to create a new booking* to cover the duration of your additional stay.  Upon exit please ring the intercom, quote your car registration and we will raise the barrier for you.  *Booking start time must be at least 3 hours in advance.

I need to change or cancel my booking, what do I need to do?

You can change or cancel your booking by logging into your account. Depending on the type of booking you’ve made there may be an amendment fee of £10 for any changes or cancellations. Please note, some products such as On-line Sale are non-amendable. We do offer a 24 hour cooling off period where you can cancel and or amend any booking free of charge within 24 hours of making the booking. Although the cooling off period does not apply to bookings that were made and are due to arrive within 24 hours.

My vehicle details have changed what do I do?

If you have chosen a flexible booking option, you can update/amend your vehicle details free of charge up to 24 hours before your parking commences - visit manage my booking or contact us for more details.

How do you calculate parking prices on your website?

Accepted Answer

Our pre-paid parking prices are shown as a 24 hour period. For example, if arriving at the car park at 05:30 in the morning and returning the exiting the same day at 22:00 you will be charged for a full 24 hour period. i.e. you would be charged the same if you were exiting the car park the following day at 05:30 All prices shown are in GBP and include VAT at 20%. Car park charges will also vary according to: The time of year Location in regards to the terminal Supply and demand How far in advance you make your car park booking

There are different requirements for entry into the UK depending on your nationality, country of residence, country of departure and the reason/duration of your visit. As a diabetic, I'm worried that syringes/injection pens may not be allowed in hand luggage.

It's always best to let your airline know, but there's absolutely no problem with taking these items on board the plane if you have a medical condition! Just make sure to present the items at security and have a doctor's note with you.

Can I carry sharp-edged religious/cultural regalia/accessories (e.g. Kirpans, Sgian Dhub or Dirks) on my person or in my hand baggage?

Unfortunately, you can't take sharp objects or blades over 6 cm in your hand luggage for security reasons. But, you can take these items in your hold luggage! Make sure to pack them there so they don't get confiscated at security.

Are the x-ray machines film-safe?

We recommend you pack undeveloped film in your hand luggage. Special arrangements can be made for photographers with large quantities of film who wish it to be carried in the hold – just get in touch with your airline.

What is the current airport tax imposed on passengers?

Airport tax is 'Air Passenger Duty' (APD) and is imposed on passengers by the government. BAA is not involved in either levying or collecting this tax. It is paid when passengers book their ticket with the airline and collected by the government once the journey has taken place.
