Rotterdam

Rotterdam

Rotterdam is home to the largest port in Europe, often earning it the title of the “Gateway to Europe” – but why travel further when you can experience the culture, maritime heritage and modern architecture of this bustling city?

Central to the city's story is the huge rebuilding job which went on after WWII. Much of Rotterdam as we know it today was constructed in the second half of the twentieth century, with the city's skyline changing and developing from one decade to the next.

These days it is a place famed for its remarkable and innovative architecture, with several of the profession's greatest minds being commissioned to help design a modern, cutting-edge cityscape which is unlike anything else you'll find.

However it's not just the architecture visitors flock to Rotterdam for. Its fantastic cafe culture is a big attraction, while the beautiful Hoek van Holland coastal town is also a firm favourite.

When in town be sure to check out the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen which hosts masterpieces from the likes of Van Gogh, Monet and Rembrandt.
