Helsinki

Helsinki

Helsinki is quirky and vibrant – a city full of adventure.

Experience the laid back rhythm of this seaside capital with its beautiful islands, green parks, electric nightlife and superb restaurants.

On the 'must see' list should be the Temppeliaukio Church, a remarkable creation built into solid rock earning it the name 'Church of the Rock'; and the Suomenlinna sea fortress which is built across eight islands a few kilometres from Helsinki city centre. This fortress, which dates back to the 1700s, has UNESCO World Heritage status.

The Sibelius Park and Monument, which is located on the city's seaside, is another highlight. A musical sculpture built in honour of legendary Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, it is made from 600 steel tubes which work in unison to capture the wind like a pipe organ. It really is a stunning work of art.

This beautiful city is packed with innovative, creative design, and that, allied to its wonderful charm and character, make this one of Europe's most fascinating places to visit.
