Zante is divided into three geographically distinctive areas each with their own appeal and charm: the south is characterised by beautiful white sandy beaches including the Gerakas Beach, known for its turtle population and spectacular scenery. The north is filled with quaint traditional mountain villages offering the opportunity to see the traditional Greek way of life alongside dramatic seascape views. Finally, the central region is rich with olive groves and vineyards. It’s here that you will be able to taste some of the best wines in the Mediterranean.
Zante offers a lot of variety from the serene and peaceful Alykes to the family favourite Tsilivi which not only boasts a first-class beach but great restaurants, a waterpark and numerous water sport facilities. Laganas is a firm favourite with younger travellers and alongside its fantastic nightlife, it has plenty of beach bars and day time activities to ensure you will never be bored. If you want to take a little break from the bustling resort then take a walk over the wooden bridge to the Cameo Island for a beautiful secluded beach and bar.
With such beautiful beaches and gorgeous Greek weather, you may choose to spend all of your time simply soaking in the sunshine however there is more to the island than its weather. Tourists enjoy taking a boat trip out to Smugglers Cove where they have the opportunity to explore the spectacular caves found near here. Zakynthos Town is filled with Venetian architecture and culture so it's great for a day trip or to stay if you fancy something a little different.
