New Air Lingus regional Edinburgh - Shannon route takes off
Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, will tomorrow (St Patrick’s Day) launch its new route from Edinburgh to Shannon.
The new route will operate six times weekly with fares from £29.99 one-way including taxes and charges.
Edinburgh passengers flying to Shannon will also be able to take advantage of Aer Lingus’s transatlantic services to New York and Boston.
Shannon Airport offers U.S. bound passengers’ immigration and customs preclearance services, meaning that no border checks upon arrival in the United States, and avoiding potentially long queues.
To mark St Patrick’s Day and to celebrate this new route Edinburgh Airport will turn the control tower green on the evenings of 16th and 17th of March.
Commenting today, Martin Saxton, Chief Commercial Officer at Stobart Air said:
“We are delighted to return services between Edinburgh and Shannon. Shannon Airport is ideally suited for holidaymakers looking to explore the rugged beauty of the West of Ireland, including the Wild Atlantic Way, one of Europe’s most spectacular driving routes, and Galway City and Limerick City, two highly popular weekend destinations amongst Scottish tourists.
“We are also particularly excited to be able to offer our passengers based in Edinburgh an easy, convenient and great value means to connect to Aer Lingus’s transatlantic services to the US via Shannon. Customers can save hours of travel time and queuing in US airports by availing of US customs and border pre-clearance facilities in Shannon Airport prior to boarding.”
Jonathan Rayner, Edinburgh Airport’s Head of Aero Business Development, said:
“This fabulous new route between the heart of Scotland and the West of Ireland adds to our growing list of destinations and further enhances passenger choice and connectivity from Scotland.”
