Edinburgh Airport and BA are trialing offering customers the opportunity to check-in the day before you fly - which is very handy if you live locally or are staying overnight near the airport. You can drop off your baggage the day before, and relax without worrying about early morning check-in queues, instead heading straight to security.
Terms and conditions do apply, so you should check with BA for more information:
Trial Period: 10th July 2013 - Until further notice

Eligible flights: All next-day flights departing before 10:00. Simply check in as normal in the BA check-in area between the above times

The check-in area is on the ground floor of the terminal. To find your check-in desk, look up your flight number on the information screens near the entrance.
How early to arrive
Please check your ticket or contact your airline for advice on checking in times. As a general guide, however:
- Long-haul flights: check in three hours before scheduled departure.
- European flights: check in two hours before scheduled departure.
- UK and Ireland flights: check in one hour before scheduled departure.
After check-in you can proceed through security control to the departure lounge - to avoid any delays, you are advised to pass through security early. In the departure lounge, keep an eye on the information screens which show flight status updates and gate numbers. Boarding usually begins around 45 minutes before departure.
