If you are planning on going away this winter, there are ways of making your journey through the airport a lot easier, saving you time and inconvenience.

So why don’t you get your trip off to a flying start and help us to help you get through the airport in three simple steps.

1. Check-in

Where offered by your airline please check in online, or consider using the day before check-in or self service check in at the airport.

Check your airline’s baggage weight allowances before travelling as this may differ between airlines.

2. Security

Passengers may take more than one item of hand baggage per person through security with maximum dimensions of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 17.7in x 10in).
However, passengers are advised to check with their airline for their particular baggage policy as this may vary.
Drinks, liquids, gels, creams, pastes, foam, sprays, perfume and lotions including cosmetics and toiletries can be taken through security in containers no larger than 100ml. They must be in a transparent re-sealable bag - 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in).
Don't forget most drinks (especially water) come in containers of 125ml or more.
No sharp items.

3. Departure Lounge

Once through security, relax and enjoy the wide range of shops and restaurants in the departure lounges, which are open 24 hours a day. Here you can fly with everything you buy, liquids included!*
