Community matters

Community matters to BAA Edinburgh.

We have a strong commitment to the communities around our airport and aim to address issues of prime local concern.

In response to local requests, the airport established a freephone 24 hour telephone line for residents to raise concerns about noise. This was followed with the introduction of noise fining, whereby aircraft that break stated noise thresholds are fined depending on the level of infringement.

Money raised from fining is place into the Edinburgh Airport Community Fund, which was established in 2006.  This fund aims to help projects and good causes local to the airport covering education, the environment and sport. The Fund is administered by the Community Forum, a group made up of airport staff.

A quarterly community newsletter is sent to over 15,000 of the airport's closest neighbours. This aims to keep local residents up to date with developments at the airport and responds to local concerns. The airport also holds regular public information drop in sessions, where local residents can learn more about future plans and have their questions answered.
