BAA is a complex company and much of our work is done in partnership with other businesses and organisations – from the largest airline alliances to independent traders such as taxi drivers. As well as meeting our own responsibilities, we make sure these organisations work together to deliver a high-quality service:

Airlines: Responsible for check-in, baggage handling after check-in and through to final destination, cargo, providing and fuelling the aircraft, boarding passengers, passenger safety and catering on-board the aircraft.

Civil Aviation Authority: Controls all flight paths and aircraft routes at UK airports, regulates airlines, airports and the National Air Traffic Services. The CAA also sets airport charges at the London airports.

Commercial services: Individual businesses provide catering, shopping, car hire and banking services.

HM Customs and Excise: Controls the import and export of goods including preventing illegal activities such as drugs, tobacco and alcohol trafficking and trades in endangered species and child pornography.

HM Immigration: Decides who is eligible to enter the country and deals any deportation or asylum issues.

National Air Traffic Services (NATS): Looks after air traffic control and management, ensuring aircraft flying in UK airspace and over the eastern part of the North Atlantic are safely separated.

Public transport operators: Many independently-run bus, coach, taxi and rail companies provide connections to and from our airports.
