Safe use of drones

The use of drones is becoming increasingly popular, both for leisure and commercial use, and it is important the users understand their responsibilities when using drones near an airport.

It is illegal to fly a drone within 5km of an airport, with major penalties for those who break the law – the Dronesafe.uk website has more information that drone users should follow.

Anyone flying a drone either recreationally or commercially must take responsibility for doing so safely and in accordance with the Air Navigation Order. Drone users can only fly within the restriction zones if they have the correct permission from air traffic control or the airport. Please fill out the form below to allow our teams to assess your application and give at least 3 working days’ notice. Do not operate your drone in the vicinity of the airport until permission has been given.

Operators should understand and comply with CAP1763 – Air Navigation Order 2018 and 2019 Amendments – Guidance for Small Unmanned Aircraft Users. www.caa.co.uk/cap1763

Operators can find guidance from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at www.caa.co.uk/uas
