With more passengers than ever before travelling through its terminal, Edinburgh Airport is looking to enhance its retail offerings to give passengers the very best choice and experience.
To join the likes of Jo Malone, Mac, Hugo Boss and Kurt Geiger, Edinburgh Airport is offering two prime retail units in its departure lounge for summer 2015. The airport has identified two potential opportunities for a pharmacy operation and jewellery and watches retailer.
The units, located in the airport’s bustling international departure lounge, offer vendors the chance to be part of a wider anchor retail offering located directly in front of passengers as they enter the departure lounge.
The airport, which is undergoing rapid expansion and recently became the first in Scotland to exceed the 10 million yearly passenger mark, has enjoyed its most successful year on record with the launch of a number of fantastic new long and short-haul routes in 2014.
Passengers can now travel to Doha with Qatar Airways, Chicago with United Airlines and Philadelphia with US Airways. It was also announced in July that Etihad Airways will launch its first Scottish route to Abu Dhabi from Edinburgh in June 2015.
Retailers have until the end of Q1 in 2015 to register their interest and more information is available on the airport’s retail website, retailopportunities.edinburghairport.com. All competitive bids will be completed by mid-2015 with the first phase of the new development to open in Q3.
Edinburgh Airport is the fifth largest airport in the UK, in terms of passenger numbers, and has one of the highest proportions of business travellers outside London Heathrow. On average, passengers fly from Edinburgh six times a year, making it one of the UK’s most frequently used airports.
John Watson, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport, said "We’re undergoing a period of massive change at Edinburgh Airport and are increasing our retail space by 45% in 2015. We’ve identified some amazing new opportunities which are in ideal locations in our departure lounge.
"We’re excited to welcome new retailers to Edinburgh Airport and are confident these units will provide the right business partner with a footprint on which they can deliver a leading edge flagship store."
