The school summer holidays are officially underway and Scotland’s busiest airport is gearing up for a huge influx of departing passengers, with almost 90,000 people expected to fly out of the airport this weekend.
The traditional trade weekend is always one of the airport’s busiest as families jet off on their annual summer breaks.
With a huge number of destinations to choose from, including Palma, Cancun and Alicante, customers will have an unrivalled selection of summer holidays to pick from.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, said: "Summer is always an incredibly busy time for us and this weekend will see the departure of over 90,000 passengers from Edinburgh.
"Once again we’ll have a range of family-friendly entertainment dotted throughout the check-in terminal and departure lounge. There will also be a dedicated family lane in security to make travelling with youngsters a bit easier."
"We obviously want to make sure our passengers have the best experience possible and a big part of this is being prepared for security. We’re calling on passengers to take a few moments before they get into the security search area to make sure all liquids are under 100ml and in clear plastic bags. This really helps speed up the process."
