Swiss airline Edelweiss is the latest to join the ranks as Edinburgh Airport, launching its brand new service to Zurich this morning (Friday 16 May).
The new non-stop service to Switzerland’s biggest city will fly twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, during the busy summer season – offering convenient connectivity to one of Europe’s alpine destinations.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, said: "We're pleased to welcome Edelweiss to Edinburgh and celebrate the launch of their new service to Zurich.
"Zurich represents an important business link and this new route will offer passengers even more choice of how they travel.
"Switzerland is also a popular tourist destination and we're delighted to be working with Edelweiss to offer Scottish passengers the chance to visit this beautiful country. Of course with the fantastic summer of sport and culture we're about to enjoy, we're looking forward to welcoming many Swiss visitors to Edinburgh."
Karl Kistler, CEO of Edelweiss, piloted this morning’s flight, and brought a group of Swiss VIPs to spend the weekend in Edinburgh.
