Edinburgh Airport has appointed John Watson as its new Chief Commercial Officer, joining the team at the beginning of January 2013.
Bringing with him a wealth of business and financial experience, John will oversee the aviation, retail and property teams at Edinburgh Airport and will be directly involved in the development of new routes and enhancing customer experience.
His appointment further strengthens the senior management team at Edinburgh Airport, following the appointment of Scott Taylor as Chief Financial Officer in August 2012.
Initially working as an engineer, prior to training as a Chartered Accountant, John then joined 3i plc as an Investment Manager. Following this, he held a number of financial roles specialising in mergers and acquisitions and private equity up until the banking crisis.
Since then John has held a number of executive and non-executive director roles, including Lloyds Banking Group plc, Business Growth Fund plc and Craneware Ltd.
Welcoming John's recent appointment, Edinburgh Airport Chief Executive, Gordon Dewar said; "We are delighted to have John join us here at Edinburgh Airport. We firmly believe that an individual of his calibre will fit in extremely well and will be able to use his skills and experience to help us deliver outstanding customer experience.
"We now have an excellent senior management team on board at Edinburgh Airport and I am confident that the combined skills of such a dedicated and talented group of people will help make 2013 a fantastic year for our airport".
On his appointment, John Watson said; "I am very pleased to have joined a dynamic organisation like Edinburgh Airport at the beginning of an exciting and challenging year.
"With a keen interest in aviation, I am looking forward to working closely with everyone to create more passenger choice, ensuring Edinburgh Airport is the place where Scotland meets the world."
