The uncertainty in the domestic aviation market has continued to impact on Edinburgh Airport passenger numbers in July.
957,845 passengers travelled through Edinburgh Airport in July, a drop of 3.5% on the previous year.
As with the year-on-year drop in June 2012, the drop can be attributed to a combination of factors affecting the domestic market.
Again bmi, with lower load factors and fewer flights operating and the cessation of the bmi baby route to East Midlands, are at the core of the drop.
Edinburgh Airport Chief Executive, Gordon Dewar, said: “We’re continuing to see the issues we faced last month affect passenger traffic. It’s a small percentage and we’re confident that issues will stabilise as other carriers look to fill the gaps appearing.
“We’re looking forward to a busy August as this year’s fantastic Edinburgh Festival attracts visitors from across the world.”
