Edinburgh Airport voted top by families

07 February 2012

Edinburgh Airport has been voted the UK's top airport for families in a poll of passengers conducted by travel website Skyscanner.

Scotland's busiest airport was hailed for its range of restaurants, with more than 70% of those polled stating they were happy with the number of family-friendly dining options. The airport was also recommended for its runway viewing areas and family friendly initiatives such as the pre-ordering of baby milk and the friendliness of its staff.

Head of Communications at Edinburgh Airport Gordon Robertson said: "Parents travelling with kids have enough to think about so we've tried to make their lives a bit easier by considering our youngest passengers when we're planning improvements to facilities at Edinburgh Airport.

"We've really focused on families and listened to what they tell us about what they would like to see in our airport. You can see this in the design of our new lounge which allows kids so see planes take off and land, and initiatives such as mothers being able to pre order baby milk in Boots. We also offer games and puzzles to keep children happy while they're waiting for flights, our restaurants have family friendly menus and baby changing facilities are available throughout the terminal.

"The feedback from passengers who travel with children has been really positive, and it's great to see that our efforts have been recognised in this way."

The Skyscanner survey asked more than 1,000 families to score the UK's top 10 busiest airports on several family friendly factors including children's play areas and facilities, food options for children and the security process.

The results were as follows:
