Carbon footprint

BAA commissioned Entec to develop a methodology for calculating its carbon footprint of its airports. It is the first group of airports to calculate and publish its carbon footprint and provides a framework going forward to tackle carbon emissions from our airports.

Entec has drawn on best practice guidelines such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol on Corporate Accounting and Reporting. These define emissions over which an organisation has direct control as well as other emissions that can be reported voluntarily.

Please note that the carbon footprint does not include emissions from aircraft in flight. These are regulated and managed through national policies.

Edinburgh Airport is also a member of the May Day network. Founded in 2007 by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, the Mayday network is the largest collection of businesses and organisations that have made a commitment to take action on climate change and to influence others to do the same. Joining the network is completely FREE and easy to do, so join now and you can make a real difference to the environment and your bottom line. Visit sbcscot.com for more information
